AN education catering specialist that servies many North Cornwall schools has received the top accolade from the Soil Association for its school meals. More than 500 meals are now served every day to Catering Mark Gold Standards in all 17 primary schools where Aspens Services provides catering. These include Altarnun, Boscastle, Camelford, Delabole, Egloskerry, Marhamchurch, Otterham, St Breward, St Teath, Tintagel and Whitstone. It means pupils and staff are eating freshly prepared meals made with local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Rob Sexton, chief executive of Soil Association Certification, said the award of a Gold Food for Life Catering Mark was 'a fantastic achievement'. "This award will reassure pupils, parents and staff that meals are prepared freshly, using local, seasonal and organic ingredients." For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.

CELEBRATING the achievement of the Soil Association’s Good Food for Life Catering Mark are, from left, Aspens Services business support manager Tracy Sargent, Camelford pupils Joe Hicks and Callum Abram (Year 6), headteacher Simon Bishop, pupils Amber Smart and Lucy Musgrove (Year 6) and Aspens operations director Martin Garland.
