A ‘GET Changed’ event was held at Clease Hall in Camelford on Saturday, October 12.
The sole aim of the event was to find a way of reusing second-hand clothes while raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event, held at Clease Hall on Saturday, October 12, was organised by Kathryn Evans, who was delighted to have raised £90 overall on the day for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sadly last year, Kathryn’s mother Janet Tiplady passed away, and it was her mother’s reputable kindness that inspired Kathryn to do something for charity. She said: “She always did volunteer work and would give her all to local charities and try to support local fundraising. I wanted to try and continue her ‘legacy’ each year by helping or supporting a variety of charities.
“I then saw the ‘Get Changed’ idea on the Alzheimer Society’s Facebook page and a dear friend’s mum has just been diagnosed with the illness so I thought that was the best idea to choose.”
The event was very well supported, raising £90 for the charity. The ‘Get Changed’ initiative encourages people to bring along three items of clothing to an event, pay £3 and swap. People were also able to stop for a chat, a piece of cake and a cup of tea.
Kathryn added: “A big thank you to friends and family who supported me in organising by baking, donations and helping hang clothes.”
