Residents of Crockers Ash, near Ross-on-Wye, have breathed a sigh of relief, after having been told their village will no longer act as a diversion route for the A40 dual carriageway during road closures at night.

During the week, Crockers Ash residents contacted the Ross Gazette voicing their concerns regarding the diverted traffic.

Highways England are currently conducting resurfacing works on the A40 between Whitchurch and Monmouth. Two of the four phases of the resurfacing works are relating to the dual carriageway between Whitchurch and Ganarew. The A40 is closed between 8pm and 6am, and as a result, the traffic had been diverted through Crockers Ash. The road has been subjected to these closures since Tuesday, May 19th.

The closures are due to last ten days in each direction; westbound and eastbound.

A concerned resident spoke to the Ross Gazette about the diverted traffic. He said: "It's unfair and unreasonable."
