THE Conservatives were triumphant once again in both the borough and town council elections but the challenge by the dissatisfied Farnham Residents group now makes them the Conservatives' official opposition.

Farnham Residents is an umbrella organisation, with eight Independent members who have different political allegiances nationally but have come together to be as non-political as they can be at a local level, keeping party politics out of the local issue.

The party saw three of their five candidates elected to Waverley Borough Council and four of their eight candidates elected to Farnham Town Council.
