CAMELFORD Primary School recently participated in Demo Day, as part of British Science Week.
Fifteen schools across Cornwall pledged to participate in Demo Day 2017, a day of practical, hands-on science demonstrations organised by the British Science Association (BSA) as part of British Science Week. Among the schools taking part was Camelford Primary School.
Demo Day aims to inspire school teachers and technicians to explore new concepts, provoke discussions and generate excitement through running science demonstrations in class.
Supported by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the Worshipful Company of Horners, Demo Day has run successfully for the last three years, as part of British Science Week, a ten-day programme of science, technology, engineering and maths events and activities across the UK for people of all ages.
This year, the week saw a total of 694 demonstration events that took place across the UK. Experiments included creating a storm in a bottle with just two simple ingredients, creating an electromagnet and bringing a drink can to life.
There are further resources and advice available for teachers and technicians, giving ideas, inspiration and confidence to run demos with students on the BSA website, at www.britishscienceweek.org/plan-your-activities/demo-day
