PUPILS from Tregadillett Primary from classes 3 and 5 were at Lifton Strawberry Fields Farm Shop on Monday in preparation for a pasty making competition.
The pupils had a guided tour of the business before being given ingredients ahead of the competition this week.
The school has been researching the history of the pasty and tasting different recipes, which has inspired each class to invent its own original pasty.
The school's theme this term has been 'farming', and research on where food comes from has been used to source the best local ingredients for the pasties.
The competition was due to be held this week with details of the winning pasty to be published in next week's Post.
Judges will include award-winning chef from the Arundel Arms Hotel in Lifton Steven Pidgeon, world champion pasty maker from Ginsters Graham Cornish and representatives from the local farming community, Lifton Farm Shop and Barnecutts Bakery.
The winning pasty will be available to buy from Lifton Farm Shop.
