A North Cornwall medical practice has issued a warning to its patients after its staff were subjected to abuse.
Port Isaac Medical Practice, which in addition to serving the village that bears its name also provides GP surgeries across a large area of North Cornwall, including places as far away as Wadebridge, Delabole and Blisland, has said that there is ‘no excuse’ when it comes to abuse of their staff.
It has been confirmed that multiple warning letters are being sent out to patients who have been reported for being abusive in their dealings with staff.
The recent surge in abuse has led to the business manager at Port Isaac Practice speaking out to make aware the incidents and the fact they won’t be tolerated.
Terri, the business manager of Port Isaac Practice said: “I am so disappointed about the way patients and their relatives are treating our staff (admin and clinical) - I have issued three warning letters this week already and we will remove patients who persist in continuing with this behaviour.
“Our staff have been called crazy, lazy, useless, blondie, accused of being the reason the patient is stressed and in pain, told that because of them the patient will die/you'd better hope I don't die, told they are not fit to be in the job, been told they are (expletive) useless and much more.
“This is not acceptable - being hot isn't an excuse - we are all hot and we are working hard to ensure we keep everyone happy - there are some requests we cannot comply with but this is no excuse to abuse staff.
“If you have a complaint please write in, use the comments on our website or feedback through Klinik.
“I am frustrated seeing dedicated staff distressed and crying because we cannot comply with patients requests and are subsequently abused.”
