Children from Holsworthy Primary School have been awarded £2,000 from Playground Patnerships. During the summer term, School Councillors, infants and juniors worked extremely hard to put together a portfolio of work which they presented to back up their bid for funding to improve their playground equipment. They prepared plans, budgets and designs as well as contacting suppliers and local craftsmen to seek advice. Visits to other play areas were organised and all the children involved felt extremely proud that the vast majority of the work was completed by students with support from Infant Coordinator Liz Priest. Although the funding awarded was a little short of their target total, the School Council is continuing to seek other sources of funding so that their plans for playtimes are fulfilled. Among the plans are friendship benches, a pirate ship and climbing wall! The School PTFA has offered to support some of their plans and if any local businesses or organisations could work with the School Council to further develop the playground resources, they would be pleased to hear from you!
