PLENTY of new faces packed into the Waverley Borough Council chamber in Godalming on Tuesday to see Mike Band elected as the new mayor of Waverley.

The Shamley Green councillor said he was committed to representing both the borough and the people of Waverley for the next year - taking the chains of office from outgoing mayor Liz Wheatley.

In his role as mayor, Mr Band will attend a wide variety of engagements acting as an ambassador for the council, as well as chairing council meetings.
