Trebarwith Strand is already famous for its spectacular surfing beach and picturesque wooded valley. Now a local inn is introducing fine Cornish dining in a purpose built beautifully appointed streamside restaurant.

The theme will be exciting new menus based on the best of Cornish produce lifted with international flair and creative innovation.

Owner Mark Forbes said he hoped the new Mill House Restaurant would help put Cornish cooking on the national — and international — map.

"Our head chef Aaron Calverd may not have done a TV programme, but he is bursting with talent and skill," said Mark.

The menus will be changed regularly and accompanied by a creative wine list. A key aspect of the new restaurant is to keep prices affordable.

"We know we will attract inbound tourists," said Mark. "However, we are also determined to look after local people and we will be keeping our prices well below national standards to ensure everyone can enjoy this great new restaurant."

The dining room has been purpose built alongside a specially diverted millstream. The elegant venue is light and airy

during the day but takes on an intimate atmosphere at night. The large wooden water mill, an external feature to the room, has still to be renovated into working order but currently adds a stationary point of interest for the

restaurant.
