Ross-on-Wye provided the perfect setting for a world record attempt on Saturday, the sun shone and the Ropewalk was filled with hundreds of dog owners and their pets.
The Soi Dog Foundation, which helps rescue street dogs in Thailand, organised the Funday on Saturday, June 27th. The event started at 10.30am with a fun dog show and stalls, then at 1pm all the dogs which had been registered gathered by their allotted flag colour to be verified and counted. Each dog had to be wearing a bandana to be included in the attempt.
The current record of 764 was set in May in Australia. There were 566 dogs registered in Ross which unfortunately was not enough to break the world record but it was obviously a record for Ross and possibly a British record. The charity was thrilled with the results and they raised nearly £9,000 thanks to the registration fees, raffles and stalls.
