I AM writing to express considerable concern that Cornwall Council are no longer printing planning applications in this paper unless they are listed buildings or in a conservation area.
On contacting the planning department I was told that the council is "falling in" with Government guidelines, that this is not necessary apart from the above mentioned exceptions, that people living in close proximity to planning applications would be informed by letter and that, in any case, applications would appear on the website, thus the council absolves itself of any responsibility.
I surely cannot be the only person in Cornwall who does not possess a laptop/computer and does not wish to own one? But I am being discriminated against because I cannot find out what is happening in my local community unless it is happening next door to my property.
I have been in contact with Dan Rogerson's office to see if anything can be done about this, but I fear MPs have enough worries of their own at this time! If you are concerned about the loss of planning applications in the newspaper please contact the planning department and Dan Rogerson's office, if enough people do so perhaps the council will realise that it is a matter of public concern.
Stratton.
