FOR some, October means its officially the start of spooky season, however, for residents in Launceston, it means that it’s time for the town’s iconic carnival.

On October 11, the town’s community came together to enjoy a staple in the event calendar, the annual Launceston Carnival. Each year, the event promises to bring joy to the town’s streets and this year was no different.

Residents and visitors came out in force to see what the event had to offer for 2025.

Thanks to the hard work of the community and the carnival committee, the town was transformed into a hive of fun and games, with an array of colour dancing through the streets and plenty of activities to get involved with.

Of course, a carnival isn’t complete without royalty and for 2025, Bella Heywood stepped into the role of carnival queen. She was joined by her loyal attendants Harper Hughes and Daisy Ann Neale.

Alongside Launceston’s own, royalty from towns across the region graced the event with their presence, waving to their royal subjects as they made their way through the town.

With so much going on, including face painting, puzzles, and even a scarecrow competition, it is hard for many to pin down the best part, however, the annual procession is a fan favourite, which sees the streets filled with fun as floats light up the October sky.

Groups from across the area showed their creative flair as they paraded through the town on their custom-designed floats.

Among those who took to the streets were Launceston Young Farmers, Launceston Town Band, and a number of local schools, among many others.

With such a successful event, many will already be looking forward to what next year has to offer!

A spokesperson from the committee said: “Well done to everyone who took part in the carnival, you all looked wonderful!”
