A SNAKE that lives in a school's music room, a judo expert and a teacher of African drums are not visitors that pupils see every day.
But they were welcomed to Berry Hill Primary School as part of a 'super learning day'.
The children were also able to get a taste of experiences such as orienteering, baking with the school's cook, making tiles and country dancing.
They even travelled up to Berry Hill rugby club to have a go at archery.
Headteacher Gail Jones explained: "Every year we have a super learning day and we ask the children what sort of things they would like in school.
"They really enjoy it and it gives them the opportunity to see and do things that they might not otherwise experience."
Monty the royal python was brought to Berry Hill by Paul Hunt, a music teacher at Monmouth School.
He said Monty was a rescue snake who lived in the music room at the school – although as snakes do not have ears they cannot hear the sounds being made.
The super learning day was held during the visit of a headteacher from Kenya who is one of three who were in the Forest as part of an exchange programme.
Mrs Phyllis Wahomey, who was staying with Mrs Jones, said she was enjoying her visit to Gloucestershire.
