How heartily I agree with your correspondent of last week about the number of people in Ross who consume energy drinks then dump the cans on the pavement or grass verge rather than use their boundless, new-found energy to walk to the nearest litter bin.
We have the same problem in the Lea, with empty cans joined by an unappetising collection of discarded crisp bags, sweet wrappers, cigarette packs, you name it.
Given that the Lea appears to have more litter bins than any other village of its size in the entire county, there really is no excuse. Perhaps litter should be one of the priorities of the new Lea Parish Council when it first meets after the election.
Seven local residents are contesting nine seats, including three committee members from the Lea Action Group. As chair of the group I will be supporting them given the leading role the group has played in opposing unwanted development and battling for flood prevention works to be constructed in the village. I would urge other voters in the Lea to do the same.
