THE PARENTS of Forest student Jo Parrish will travel to France next week to try to get the stalled investigation into her murder back on track and finally get justice for their daughter.

Last weekend was the 25th anniversary of the murder of Jo, who came from Newnham, in Auxerre.

Despite a multiple murderer and his accomplice being in jail – who are the strongest suspects in Jo's case – the family says the French authorities seem reluctant to take action.

Jo's parents, Roger and his ex-wife Pauline Murrell, want the pair questioned again about their possible part in Jo's death.

They will travel to Paris next week in the hope of seeing the examining magistrate although their requests for an appointment have so far gone unanswered.

They will also travel to Auxerre – where Jo died after placing an advertisement as an English teacher – and speak to French journalists.

They have also launched a petition online and a paper version in Newnham calling on Forest MP Mark Harper to put his weight behind the campaign.

Mr Parrish is due to meet staff of the new Chief Whip to discuss the campaign.

Gloucestershire Police have already said they will do what they can to help secure justice for Jo.

The suspects are Michel Fourniret, who was jailed for life in 2008 for the murder of seven women, and his wife Monique Olivier who was convicted of assisting in some of the killings.

Mr Parrish said: "There are some similarities between Jo's death and some of the other women.

"The woman (Olivier) made a confession to being at the murder of a young woman in Auxerre in 1990.

"The only murder to take place at that time in Auxerre was Jo.

"She retracted her statement because she said it was made under duress.

"We want the examining magistrate to question her again about that."

The petition is available at http://www.gopetition.com/">www.gopetition.com/ petitions/justice-for-jo-25th-anniversary and the paper version is available at Bailey's Stores in Newnham High Street.

The online version received 849 signatures between going live last Thursday (May 14) and the Review going to press on Tuesday.
