A TRIP to take in all that Cambridge University can offer was undertaken recently by four Year 11 students from Sir James Smith’s Community School, Camelford.

The two-day trip, organised by Bodmin College, was to Downing College, Cambridge, and also included a punting expedition, a tour of Emmanuel College and visits to an Anthropology and Archaeology Museum and an Earth Science museum.

Lauren Payne, Downing College’s School and college liaison officer, also gave a talk about university life and what the University of Cambridge can offer.

The four from Sir Jim’s — Annalisa, Jas, Damon and Emma — were joined on the trip, led by Dr Martin Dixon, of Bodmin College, by students from Bodmin College, Fowey River Academy and Looe Community Academy.

Annalisa explained: “The students were given a presentation about what A-levels would open us up for the course we desire to take at university. For the students this was very informative, and proved very helpful.”
