Further to your correspondent's letter about planning information on Cornwall Council's website (the 'Post', April 30). I would like to give some background information to explain where we are and what is planned for the future.

Unfortunately we did not have the time to implement a single new planning system in time for the launch of the new authority.

This means that for the time being, the website has to use the existing seven planning systems from the previous seven authorities. These seven systems hold differing information in different ways, and means that varying information on planning is available across Cornwall through the website. However, all the functionality and information that was previously available on the separate sites is still available on the new website.

We have received a number of comments about speed of the website and have people looking into that to see if there is anything we can do improve this.

In the future we will have one planning system for the whole of Cornwall that will make the user experience more consistent. In the meantime we welcome comments on anything we can do to improve this.
