The children in Classes 2 and 3 at Delabole County Primary School enjoyed two days learning about Indian culture and religions in workshops run by guest, Mrs Daya Stafford recently.

A whole school community cohesion assembly was led by Daya, where equality and diversity were discussed. The workshops were seen as a very valuable experience by those involved in combating racism and prejudice. Daya introduced Indian traditions – including Sikhism and Hinduism – in a practical way through dressing up, dancing, video clips, role play and cookery.

Parents of the children were invited to the school to watch prayer and wedding ceremonies enacted by the children, dance and sample the delicious Indian cuisine prepared by the children in Class 4.

Everyone learnt an incredible amount in an enjoyable way and it is hoped that this experience can be repeated in the future.
