DETECTIVES are appealing for the public's help in tracing a man in connection with a number of offences including an assault on a police officer.

John 'Rusty' Stevens was travelling north on the A3 near Petersfield around 8pm on May 26 when he was stopped by police.

It was during this spot check that Mr Stevens assaulted an officer.
