PARENTS of children who studied Drama at Holsworthy Community College have spoken of their disappointment after they were taught the incorrect GCSE syllabus — which could have an adverse effect on their final mark.
Mrs Lorraine Godwood from Pyworthy contacted the 'Post' after receiving a letter from headteacher, David Fitzsimmons, relating to the syllabus taught to her son Thomas.
She was shocked when she read the letter, which informed her and her husband that students had been following the wrong syllabus and would receive a zero grade for a third of their mark.
Mrs Godwood said that the headteacher had been very understanding but added: "It just makes me cross because as a parent you think everything is going along nicely."
She hoped that her son's chances of further study would not be hampered, but said he was disappointed at the news.
"He was very shocked. He liked the drama teacher, but he is upset obviously because he worked very hard. The headteacher has said that he would write the students a letter to put in their records, but when you go for a job at my age they still ask you what your grades are."
