Two new services are now available to patients of Holsworthy Medical Centre.
Since last week patients can now book appointments and request repeat prescriptions on -line.
To access this service via the centre's website, (http://www.holsworthymedicalcentre.co.uk">www.holsworthymedicalcentre.co.uk), however, they will first need to request a username and password at the reception desk.
Patients will be able view past and current appointments, book appointments with their doctor up to one week ahead and request medication seven days in advance.
The website also allows them to submit questions to the practice. In addition, to save queuing when checking in for an appointment they can use the self check-in just inside the main entrance by keying in their date of birth.
Jane Wells of the practice management team said: "Patients without access to a computer will still be able to phone, but by going on-line we hope to improve our service to patients by reducing the number of calls into the practice enabling our reception team to answer calls more quickly."
Another new service will soon be offered to patients who care for a family member or friend. They will be invited to come along for an annual health check and in order to enable them to attend the appointment they will also receive funded respite.
The practice recognises that circumstances change and that they may not be aware if someone has taken on caring responsibilities. Anyone in that position is asked to make it known to a health professional or the practice reception on their next visit.
