THERE could be a future Olympic gymnast at Holsworthy Primary School judging by the quality of the school’s gymnastics finals on Thursday, March 8, and Monday, March 12.
The pupil’s competed in their seperated houses, which were each assigned a colour; Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. They were then awarded points for their performances, which added up to give a final team result.
The KS1 pupils took to the springboard on Friday for their final and there were some excellent floor routines from the youngsters.
The school thanked its Year 4 and 6 sports leaders for coaching and judging the younger competitors and Mrs Warren for her help on the vault.
The KS2 group had their event on the Monday. Mr Hurley thanked and congratulated the younger gymnasts who competed for their coloured houses. He said: “It was wonderful to see the amazing talent and enthusiasm on display; every child was a credit to their team and to the school.
“All of KS1 and KS2 have now taken part in competitive sport this year and we’d like to build on this success in the future.”
The school thanked Mr Hurley for his work organising the event and to the volunteer judges Mrs Chidley, Mrs Ford and Mrs Warren.
The team and individual results were announced to the pupils during assembly on Friday, March 16.
