I AM sure your readers will have read the article in last week’s edition of your newspaper (page 10 — ‘Master class workshop for students’) in which the visit by the ‘Vespertine Duo’ to a local school was reported.
However, this was part of a week-long visit when eleven local schools were visited and this year a new innovation was introduced into the project when very successful Masterclassses were held at Budehaven Community School and Bude Junior School. Please see the following quotes:
“Thank you so much for Vespertine’s assembly last Tuesday. The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the activities and performances. Classical music is something that many of our children have never had experience of, and it has encouraged many children to look into learning a musical instrument. Thank you again” — Rebecca Bridgman — Year 2 and 3 class teacher at Stratton School.
“Students at Budehaven Community School thoroughly enjoyed a stylish performance and master class workshop from the visiting Vespertine Duo. Students were encouraged to get involved both practically and theory based which worked really well with our GCSE and A-level Music students. It was particularly lovely to see students engaged and performing with the professional musicians and we’d welcome the duo back anytime! Thanks so much once again for organising such a great event.” — Bethany Wade — Head of Music at Budehaven Community School.
All of this could not have been achieved without the grant awarded to Sound Waves South West Music and Music Therapy Trust by the Wessex Youth Trust and our charity is very grateful for their continued support.
