THE governors, headteacher and staff of Highgate Hill House School near Holsworthy are celebrating after the results of their first OFSTED inspection.
The school for pupils with special needs received a ‘Good’ rating.
Sir Peter Birkett, UNESCO UK education and school ambassador, said: “We are all delighted with the OFSTED outcome and this is the first step on our journey to achieving excellence in all that we do. The governors, headteacher, staff, students, parents and carers have all pulled together as a team to create a school that is very special, delivering a personalised curriculum and caring environment to meet the individual needs of all our amazing children.”
The inspector said that ‘relationships between staff and students is impressive’ and ‘pupil’s behaviour is good’.
The headteacher and staff were also praised for their passion, dedication and determination to provide the very best care and education for pupils.
Headteacher Vicky Skelton said she was thrilled with the OFSTED results as it paves the way for the future of the school.
The report confirms ‘the curriculum is carefully planned to meet individual needs of students’ as well as providing ‘access to a range of high quality therapeutic provision’.
The report also highlighted the ‘high level of skill and professional expertise that the board of governors bring to the school’.
Chair of the governors, Julie Smith, said: “I am proud of how far the school has come in a relatively short space of time and we are all excited about the future for our students.”
