IT was a drastic change for a young Chilsworthy girl who chopped her long locks recently in aid of The Little Princess Trust.

Amelia’s ‘Big Hair Cut’ was a great success and has raised an incredible sum for the charity.

Parents Steve and Jane Ivey were incredibly proud of their daughter, who they say took the day in her stride.

They said: “As you can imagine, we were a little anxious on the morning of the Big Hair Cut, not knowing how Amelia would react to such a drastic change. It took an hour to wash and dry and get ready for the big moment.

“Amelia took the whole day, and the cut, in her stride and is absolutely thrilled with her new, very short style. Family and friends were waiting for her when she left the salon with gifts as a ‘well done’.”

Amelia hoped she could raise enough for one wig at £550 but with a dream of enough for two. To date, donations (including Gift Aid payments) stands at an incredible £2,803, which will cover the cost of five weeks for some very deserving children.

Steve and Jane added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Kayley Watkins of KW Hair Boutique, Holsworthy, for the fantastic job she did and putting us all at ease.”

Donations can still be made at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/amelia-ivey if anyone would like to support Amelia in her fundraising efforts.
