YOUNG children in Chilsworthy don’t have long to wait for the completion of the new play area in the village.

Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council maintains two children’s play areas in the village of Chilsworthy for the use of residents and visitors.

One is situated in The Willows development and the other on the village green.

The parish council has been aware that for some time the play area on the village green, consisting of a play locomotive and wooden exercise equipments, has been deteriorating and needs extensive repair and replacement.

A survey was carried out among local residents — in which a questionnaire was sent out to all households in the parish — which demonstrated the popularity of both play areas and the need for providing them.

As a result, the parish council submitted an application at the start of 2017 to the Torridge District Council New Homes Bonus Scheme and was successful in being granted funds to update and renovate the play equipment on the village green.

The old wooden exercise equipment has already been removed from the site. The new, replacement equipment has been selected, purchased and us in the process of being assembled.

The refurbished play area should prove popular with local families with you children and well generate increased footfall.
