THE Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association (RCAA) with its Farm & Country education project, has launched a series of activities that children can do from home, learning about topics such as Livestock and Dairy Farming, and activities that cover subjects such as English, science and art.
In light of the Covid-19 outbreak, with many children are now being schooled from home, the RCAA’s activity sheets gives parents some different and unique ideas for home lessons, and focuses on how our farms work, where our food come from, and the environment — topics that are vitally important for children to learn about.
The resources are free to use and available on the RCAA’s website, the activity sheets work alongside our educational videos, also available on the website, www.royalcornwallshow.org/education/farm-and-country-activity-sheets/
Even parents might learn something new along the way!
The idea is to create a virtual classroom of children learning about some of the most important industries in our region, therefore the RCAA encourages those who take part to show their work by tagging them in their social media posts and using the hashtag #FrontRoomFarming.
The RCAA’s aim is for the activities to provide a practical and stimulating method of learning, beyond the norms of the classroom.
