Egloskerry School has recently been judged by Ofsted as a good school which provides outstanding care, support and guidance to its pupils that result in outstanding personal development and well-being.
Parents described the school as "fabulous" and "fantastic". Ofsted found that the school has high standards of teaching with a committed and enthusiastic staff. The children's achievement is good or excellent and they make good progress through the school, including pupils with special needs.
The inspector reported that the school has a very caring atmosphere. The pupils are spirited, lively and energetic and they show excellent behaviour.
The report also found that the curriculum is broad and balanced. It is extended and made memorable by special activities. For example, this year's Activity Week is based around the cross-curricular theme of 'Change'. The children are actively looking at how they can change their work spaces and the way they work. Visitors to the school will also challenge them to change their perceptions of the wider world.
The pupils have very good opportunities to take responsibility, work together and make a positive contribution to their community. The school promotes and celebrates the achievement and well-being of every individual pupil, whatever their particular strengths or circumstances.
The care given to the welfare of the youngest children is outstanding, beginning even before the children start at Egloskerry. A good range of opportunities for child-initiated activities enables the children to develop their skills and independence.
Headteacher Sally Caudle said: "We are thrilled that the skills, dedication and hard work of all the brilliant members of our school community have been recognised. We aim to help our pupils become well-rounded citizens, ready and eager to continue their education and succeed in their future lives."
