THE pupils at Holsworthy C of E Primary School let their imagination run wild for pirate and explorer day.
Due to COVID restrictions the pupils haven’t had access to the usual extracurricular activities so the teaching staff had to put their thinking caps on and come up with some fun alternatives.
As part of their studies on ‘coastlines’ the Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils dressed as pirates and explorers, and took part in some fun themed activities.
Laura Lewis, physical education lead at Holsworthy C of E Primary School, said: “We held a KS1 Pirate and explorer day to start our new topic ‘coastlines’. The children completed many different activities including a treasure hunt, singing sea shanties, map reading and making hardtack biscuits. The day was organised to help excite and inspire the children about their new topic.
“Due to COVID restrictions we have been limited with what extra-curricular opportunities we have been able to provide the children so this was long awaited for both pupils and staff. We all had a fantastic day and it was a wonderful way to kick start the summer term.”
