PUPILS at Altarnun Primary School have been learning about money management and how to reinvest funds — all in aid of charity.

Just over £300 was raised by 20 pupils who voluntarily took part during the summer holidays. They were each given £2 to invest in a fundraising idea for the school.

Money was raised through a variety of fundraising activities including cake sales, car washing, weed picking, guess the number of sweets, Facebook auctions, pink raffle and a lucky scratch card to name but a few.

A spokesperson for the Altarnun Primary School Parent Teacher Association said: “The kids really embraced the challenge, raising anything from a few pounds to £80. Learning life skills on money management, reinvesting funds and how to make a profit. Each child that took part was awarded house points to the value of money that they raised. This house point system engages good team work which is part of the strong ethos at Altarnun Primary School.

“It was a great success and the pupils can’t wait to take on the challenge again next year.”
