CRACKINGTON Haven will have the Post Office service restored from this month as it has been added to the route for the Post Office mobile service in the area.

The travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle is operated by the Postmaster from St Breward. From Friday, October 26, the mobile Post Office will visit the area outside Crackington Institute in Crackington Haven every Friday from 12.45pm to 1.45pm.

Crackington Haven has been without a Post Office since mid-August due to the resignation of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises, which the Post Office does not own, for Post Office use.

The establishment of a mobile service presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to this community.

To accommodate this extra stop on the mobile Post Office service, the service for South Petherwin is to change. Instead of two visits per week, there will be one visit on a Tuesday from 12.45pm until 1.45pm. These changes will take place from Tuesday, October 23.

Lewis Horn, Post Office area network change manager, said: “Since the closure of Crackington Haven Post Officer we have sought a solution to enable us to restore services to the local communities. A Post Office mobile service is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities.”

The Post Office is keen to restore services to this community as soon as possible, so it has decided to go ahead with plans. However, the Post Office would welcome suggestions about specific aspects of the change until November 2, in terms of the location or the day or opening hours of the service.
