The message in Cornish was translated by Mike Millard, the president of Launceston Old Cornwall Society, and reads: "We are happy to hear of the birth of the future Duke of Cornwall, and we do send best wishes to his mother and father."

As the nation rejoices at the safe arrival of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate's son on Monday (July 22) at 4.24pm, residents from the 'Post' area offer well wishes and messages.

The young prince, will, in due course, visit Launceston to receive the feudal dues when it comes his time to be the Duke of Cornwall. However, he will have to wait for his grandfather and father to pass on the title first.

Prince Charles visited Launceston Castle in November 1973 to receive his feudal dues, and his grandfather, King George VI attended 37 years before.
