CAMELFORD Town Council have announced a number of dates for the local community to get behind in the coming weeks and months.
First up on Saturday, March 5, will see the grand opening of the Camelford OCM Skatepark Phase Two Regeneration Project and the St Piran’s Day celebrations.
Amongst the offerings will be a pasty making workshop in the Old Bank, live music in the Bandstand, a fastest pasty eating competition in the Masons Arms at 9pm and a Lantern Parade from OCM to the Bandstand at 7pm.
At the Skatepark there will be the following: Zoo Humans performance and parkour workshop, graffiti workshop, DJ workshop, breakdancing workshop, BBQ, live music, DJ sets, and skateboard/scooter/BMX demos from sponsored youth. There will also be the launch of the OCM membership, a raffle, and crepes by Cornish Crepes. All of this runs from 11am to 7pm.
The town’s annual Fun Week will run from May 30 to June 5. Amongst the activities will be, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, tug of war, Beating of the Bounds, a breakdance Workshop, competitions and demos at the skatepark, dog show, duck race, circus workshops and bingo!
Music in the Park has been moved to Friday, June 3, due to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, and music will come from The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys (Queen tribute), the Unfortunate Ones and Adam Cornford. The town council have received Welcome Back funding for arts workshops and also funding towards the St Piran’s Day event.
The rest of the Jubilee celebrations will see beacon lighting on Thursday, June 2, a live screening of the Platinum Party at the Palace in Enfield Park on a huge screen and ‘Picnic in the Park’ on Saturday, June 5.
