CARNIVAL season is always an event which brings the community together and for the community of the proud market town of Camelford, 2025 might just have been the best carnival for a long time.

It was a spectacle of colour with an array of dazzling floats and displays, with the amazing entries clearly representative of an effort which such an event deserves.

In a week of often inclement weather, even Mother Nature played her part, holding the grey clouds clear while below the skies, the participants of the carnival lit up the autumn night skies.

While the public lined the streets of Camelford to enjoy the spectacle, joining all those taking part were nine carnival queens from far and wide, all giving the judges a difficult time in picking one as a winner.

Cllr Robert Rotchell of Camelford Town Council commented: "This was the best carnival for a long time. I’d like to say a well done to everyone involved.”

Marney Baker, the carnival secretary, added: "Wow what a night! I am one proud Secretary and a massive thank you to all the local businesses who contributed and to everyone who came out to give their support we will be back bigger next year.

A spokesperson for Camelford Carnival added: “What a carnival! All the planning and hard work from our committee definitely paid off! We had the most amazing entries and you could tell so much time and effort went into each and every entry.

“We would like to thank each and every person that was involved in the carnival one way or the other, and a thank you to everyone that came out just to watch. A massive thank you to T.A Hoskins for the use of their JCB digger at the end.”
