WINDOW displays and scenes of patriotic celebration were the order of the day as residents in St Teath, Delabole and Camelford pitched in to mark 80 years since the end of war in Europe.

The events were a combination of displays of poignancy and celebration, as the day sought to balance paying respect to the sacrifice of those who fell for the freedom enjoyed today while celebrating the moment when the dark cloud of tyranny in Europe gave way to brighter skies upon the fall of the Axis powers.

Elaine Reynolds, who designed the window display in Delabole, said: “It's important to teach and show the younger generation about our war time history and what people went through. Many people have stopped and admired the VE Day 80th anniversary display.”
