AN ART exhibition displaying work created by Bradworthy School Pupils was described as "fantastic" and "outstanding" by the impressed visitors.
Every child in the school had contributed to the magnificent exhibition, which was held in the school hall on Thursday, May 7 (coinciding with the community fun day) and Friday.
Having purchased a new kiln at the beginning of the year thanks to funds raised at last year's exhibition and help from the PTA, a large amount of pottery pieces were on display.
The children had been fortunate enough to meet with internationally acclaimed clay sculptress Sandy Brown and had gained advice about staging an exhibition. Sandy also spent time working with a small group of children at the school.
Art teacher at Bradworthy School, Bryan Sentance said that the older children put up most of the displays: "Class 5, the oldest children, took responsibility for the exhibition. During the day the children were wearing black and white and were stewards for the day."
As well as pottery pieces and paper mache creations, brightly coloured fish, made using a variety of methods and materials, hung in the centre of the hall.
Mr Sentance said the exhibition went very well: "We've had lots of people come in and lots of very nice comments."
He added: "Being able to do this is down to the headmaster (Richard Stephenson) because he provides an opportunity for the children to experience as wide a range of stuff as possible.
"Bradworthy School is a fantastic place to work. The children are brilliant and the ethos is great."
Visitors to the exhibition were certainly impressed with the high standard of work created by the pupils. In the visitor book, comments frequently included words such as "fantastic" and "amazing".
