A FARMER is urging dog owners to keep their animals under control around livestock after one of his treasured alpacas had its neck broken by two dogs.

Tony Dougherty, who keeps part of his alpaca herd in a field in Bentley, north of Alton, received a call from a friend in the village three hours after he had been along to feed and check them, to say that one of his prize breeding animals had been attacked and killed.
