THREE highly talented Professional Catering students from Pembrokeshire College have recently secured their end of year work placements with some of the UK's finest hotels and restaurants.
Final year student Emily Morris will be leaving shortly for Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire; described as 'a Riviera in the Highlands' and 'the eighth wonder of the world', Emily will spend up to six months mastering the art of 'Front of House' at this five-star hotel.
Emily has now come to the end of her three-year course and has thoroughly benefited from vocational training,
"Working together across all the year groups meant that you made connections with so many students; being a final year student you get the opportunity to mentor the first and second years' which is all part of our development. I have learnt so much during my time at college and now to go somewhere like Gleneagles to add the finishing touches is just amazing!" said Emily.
Emily will be trained by world-class sommeliers and, like so many other Pembrokeshire students before her there is a strong likelihood that she will gain employment afterwards.
George Harding has secured his placement at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons, which has held two Michelin stars for a staggering 29 years.
George, who has already gained some experience working at Tom Kerridge's two Michelin star Hand and the Flower Restaurant in Marlow, said: "I am hoping that the Le Manoir placement will influence me enough to further my professional skills as a chef in France. I want to travel and learn the language, which will be valuable to my career."
Jake Price impressed the head chef so much at his recent Bath Priory interview that they offered him a job! This multi-award winning hotel gem will be Jake's residence from this summer where he will work as a trainee commis chef.
"You never stop learning new skills which is why I have enjoyed the college and the camaraderie has been great. I have put in the hours and it is paying off. The benefit of becoming a professional chef is that I can take it anywhere in the world, which I intend to do," enthused Jake.
