KIVELLS are pleased to announce a new member to their Launceston office.

Thomas Oatey is joining the team for his twelve-month placement from Harper Adams University, having just finished his second year studying BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprises and Land Management.

Thomas (pictured) was born in Cornwall and comes from a farming family in Antony near Torpoint. He grew up on a mixed livestock, arable and vegetable farm and has always shown a keen interest in the agricultural sector.

Having studied agriculture at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, he wanted to progress his knowledge of the sector.

Thomas said: “I am really looking forward to my year with Kivells, as I believe it will allow me to put into practice what I have learnt so far at Harper Adams University as well as continuing to improve my understanding and knowledge of rural land management.”

Thomas is an active member of Young Farmers’ and is currently a member of the National Federation of Young Farmers Youth Forum of which he is chairman. As well as this, in his free time Thomas spends time showing both beef and dairy cattle when he is not home on the farm.

“We are looking forward to having Thomas join the team and involve himself with our varied client base. As a Harper Adams graduate myself, I understand the benefits of a placement year,” said director, Tom Rattray.
