Hodgson stars as Werrington win Hawkey Cup final

WERRINGTON?won the 2017 Hawkey Cup with a 23-run victory over Grampound Road at St Austell last Wednesday night (July 5).

After winning the toss, Adam Hodgson (49) and Mark Gribble (36) laid the platform for James Turpin to smash 39 off just 16 balls as they reached 162-6 off their 20 overs.

In reply, ‘the Road’ were well set at 81-1 in the 12th over before Robins (4-21) dismissed David Hoskings (32) and Chris Roberts (29) in the space of three balls.

Grampound then collapsed, with man-of-the-match Hodgson (2-21) and Darren Webber (3-17) amongst the wickets as they were bowled out off the last ball.

Werrington now advance to the Edwards Cup final on Wednesday night at Truro (6pm), with the winners representing Cornwall in the ECB T20 Area Finals on?Sunday, July 30.
