THE Bude & District Winter Pool League season has come to an end with New Inn A and LK Chefs winning the Premier League and Division One respectively.
In the Premier League, New Inn A walked away with the top prize as they finished 28 points ahead of their nearest rivals LK Galacticos. New Inn also did the double, winning the Heaverman Cup with a 8-0 victory over LK Sharp Shooters in the final.
The Premier League’s MVP (Most Valuable Player) went to Andy Pollard for the second year running as he won 38 of his 45 games.
LK Chefs romped to the Division One title, ending on 121 points, which was 27 points clear of runners-up New Inn Credibles.
The Chefs also took the Consolation Knockout Cup with a nailbiting 8-7 win over LK Pot Noodles.
The Chefs’ Pandy Anderson was also joint ‘Most Valuable Player’ with New Inn Credibles’ Morgan Hutchinson. Both finished with a 75% win ratio.
The Handicap Knockout Team Cup, which is now in its second year, went to Tree Inn Velos who beat LK Ballers 11-8 in the final.
In the Handicapped Singles Knockout, James Milne beat Chris Cottle 5-4 to retain his trophy.
The finals night and presentation evening was well attended on Sunday, May 21 at the Lucky Kiss.
In the Division One Scotch Doubles final, Phil Amos-Yeo and Ben Sturgeon fought back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 against Paul Laidler and Mo Davies.
The Premier Leagues doubles was postponed due to a player’s injury.
LK Chefs’ Tim Kearse was in fine form as he swept aside determined teammate Lenny Millard 4-0 in the Division One Singles final.
The main event, the Premier League Singles final, didn’t disappoint as Tony Holgate overcame Andy Pollard 4-3 to avenge the latter’s victory in the Holsworthy and District League Open Singles showpiece event.
The finals night House Championship was brilliantly won by Morgan Hutchinson as he took out some big names in the process before beating New Inn’s Rob Price 2-1 in the decider.
The popular Speed Pool competition saw Gary Hodgson beat work employee Aaron Nash in the final.
During the presentation it was mentioned over Christmas that the league held a charity pool night where £107 was raised for ‘Friends Of Bude Sea Pool’. The competition saw Andy Pollard beat Mike Kimpton in the final of what was a very friendly evening.
League secretary Gary Hodgson said: “Thanks to everyone who has been involved this season. We are constantly on the lookout for new teams and new pubs to join the Sunday League. Please visit our Facebook page at Bude Pool League Info if you’d like to enter a team for next year.”
