Facelift for Launceston leisure centre facilities

By The Post in Local People

LAUNCESTON’S Phoenix Leisure Centre is to benefit from Cornwall Council’s leisure partner GLL after the company announced the first phase of a £18-million investment in its facilities across the county.

On Saturday, April 1, 2017, GLL took over the day-to-day operation of 15 facilities and attractions with a remit to refresh facilities and improve footfall and to get more people more active more often.

GLL is the UK’s largest leisure charitable social enterprise, delivering over 300 facilities in the UK under the ‘Better’ brand.

The third centre in line for a refurbishment is the Phoenix Leisure Centre in Launceston, in which GLL looks to improve the gym facilities, which includes a complete replacement of equipment to top of the range Technogym equipment along with a general refresh.

Regional director, Juliette Dickinson, said: “We are wasting no time getting our investment programme underway.

“Customers will have a better experience when using our centres — we are installing the latest gym equipment and refreshing the look and feel so our centre offers a brighter, more attractive visit.”

With a variety of affordable memberships available for the community, including inclusive memberships for disabled users, club membership for the 60+ community and an all encompassing better health and fitness membership which allows access to all the facilities across the county, the company says it’s making leisure in Cornwall ‘Better’.
